The total purse number for 2026 will be released during the tournament. The 2025 edition featured a $21 million purse, up from $20 million in 2024. The total purse prize for the winner is not yet known, but McIlroy, as aforementioned, took home $4.2 million last year as the biggest share.

The Masters Tournament began in 1934, with Horton Smith becoming the first champion. Rory McIlroy joined the club last year, defeating Justin Rose in a playoff at Augusta National.
